Visit
the Diocese of Sacramento website to recognize who the Diocese
of Sacramento Seminarians are. Please pray for them.

Bishop
Soto is introducing his first fund-raiser, we have enclosed the
pertinent information. The Theme is: Catholics Come Home. You may
review information that was discussed at the Bishop Soto's meeting
at: http://www.catholicscomehome.org
Bishop Soto's
goal is to raise $480,000 to support a major TV Ad Program
to be televised, during 2009 Lenten season within the Sacramento
Dioceses.
We feel it is
a great program, along with the benefits to fallen away Catholics
returning to the Church and interested non Catholics joining the
Church, it could be a great vehicle to attract members to the Knight
of Columbus.
Three two minute commercials that can be reviewed on http://www.catholicscomehome.org.
This web-site will be featured in the ads, as a follow up.
Sacramento is
the second Dioceses to participate in this program. A test run was
done a few months ago in Phoenix Arizona with good results! Please
take the time to review these ads and the web site.
We plan to show
the TV Ad's at the Chapter Meeting this weekend to generate support
and begin to raise funds.

Our Founding
Father
 |
Our
Founder, Father
Michael J. McGivney chose the name "Knights of
Columbus" because, as a Catholic Order, he felt we should
relate to Christopher Columbus, the Catholic discoverer of America.
"Columbus" would emphasize that it |
|
was Catholics who discovered the North American continent. At
the same time "Knights" would signify that
the membership embodied noble ideals of spirituality and service
to church, country, and our fellowmen. |
About Our Council
St. Clare Council was founded the 28th of February 2001 through
the efforts of Ed Tweed and Father Colin Macdonald. It is named
after St. Clare, who was the Fonder of the order of nuns know as
"Poor Clare". The St. Clare order was founded with the
assistance of St. Francis of Assisi. The St. Clare Council works
closely with the St. Clare Parish in the City of Roseville and Antelope,
providing volunteer services to the parish and various charities
throughout the community.
